Wait! I Have a Dog?!

No, not at the moment. But I do have a wonderful dog art feature to show you at Escape Into Life, portraits by dog lover, dog painter, and dog rescue advocate EJ Miley, Jr. And yesterday I saw a mother duck with her entourage of ducklings crossing the road up onto the sidewalk, just like in Make Way for Ducklings! Life is good. Save your dog from fireworks! Here's a poem about that at Poemeleon. Scroll down for "Epistle of our Disappointments." Sounds sad, but besides the noise, it's got sparklers! Happy 4th of July!

I love that dog. He looks like Blue Dog.

Happy 4th!

Of course, Slate tells us today that sparklers are the most dangerous fireworks of all. Statistically speaking. I liked the advise that, considering how many different ways there are to get injured on the fourth, it might be best to just sit around and quietly drink beer all weekend as the Founders intended.

I enjoyed that poem. I have several friends who are very dog worried this weekend, so I may just have to pass that along.

I've gone to fireworks shows with babies, too, and they don't like it one bit.

At the moment, even the cats are cowering.

Wonderful poems, Kathleen. And Miley's work makes me happy.

Happy 4th. Have a splendid weekend. It's beautiful here today.
